This decision follows the directive from the Southern Railway General Manager, Mr. R.N. Singh, who visited Thrissur Railway Station recently. The pandemic led to the suspension of many passenger train services as part of safety measures. However, even after other services resumed, the evening passenger train from Guruvayur at 5:10 PM to Thrissur had not been restarted, causing inconvenience to numerous daily passengers.
General Manager’s Directive
During his visit to the Thrissur Railway Station, General Manager R.N. Singh was approached by members of ‘Drishya Guruvayur,’ an organization advocating for local train services. The members, including K.K. Govind Das, P. Sashikumar, and V. Bharatharajan, submitted a memorandum highlighting the inconvenience faced by passengers due to the absence of this vital service.
Responding to their concerns, Mr. Singh instructed railway officials to investigate the reasons behind the continued suspension of the service and to take favorable steps towards its resumption.

The 5:10 PM passenger train was a crucial link for many travelers. It used to depart from Thrissur at 6:55 PM for its return journey to Guruvayur Railway Station, often packed with passengers. The absence of this service left a gap in the schedule, as the only other passenger train from Guruvayur was at 1:30 PM towards Ernakulam, with no further service until 11:20 PM.
