In this ritual, a devotee is weighed on a traditional balance scale and offers items equal to their body weight to Lord Guruvayurappan. As of July 2025, the updated Thulabharam timings at Guruvayur Temple. Thulabharam can be performed daily within the temple premises at the following timings:
Morning session: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Evening session: 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
No advance booking is needed. Devotees can visit the temple during darshan hours and perform Thulabharam at the counters located near the Eastern Gopuram. During peak days, it’s advisable to come early to avoid long queues.
How to Perform Thulabharam
The devotee sits on one side of a weighing scale.
The chosen item(s) are placed on the other side until it balances.
The offering is handed over to the temple authorities.
The rate is calculated as per the item price below, and the devotee pays the amount at the counter and receives a receipt.
If a devotee wishes to offer something unique or not available at the temple counter, prior permission from the Devaswom Board is required.
