Important Notice: Devotees will NOT be permitted inside the Nalambalam after evening Deepaaradhana until the night Athazha Pooja on both April 2 and April 3, 2026.
The sacred Shudhikalasham ceremonies for Lord Guruvayurappan and the subordinate deities at the renowned Guruvayur Temple in Thrissur, Kerala, are set to commence tomorrow, April 2, 2026. Devotees planning a visit during these two days are advised to take note of the special schedule and entry restrictions.
What is Shudhikalasham?
Shudhikalasham is a deeply sacred purification ritual performed in Hindu temples. It is conducted periodically to spiritually cleanse and re-energize the temple premises, the deity’s idol, and the entire sanctum sanctorum. The ritual involves a series of elaborate ceremonies including Vastuhomam, Vastubali, Vastu Shuddhi, and Astra Kalasham — all performed with great precision and devotion by trained priests.

Entry Restriction — Both Days
After the evening Deepaaradhana on both April 2 and April 3, devotees will not be allowed inside the Nalambalam until the night Athazha Pooja is completed. Devotees are advised to plan their darshan accordingly.
Plan Your Visit Wisely
Devotees are encouraged to arrive early in the morning on both days to ensure a peaceful darshan before the ritual restrictions begin in the evening. Those coming specifically for the Sheeveli procession on April 3 should note that it has been replaced by the Sree Bhoothabali Ezhunnallippu on that evening.
The Shudhikalasham is a rare and auspicious occasion. Witnessing or being present during such sacred purification rituals is considered highly meritorious by devotees of Lord Guruvayurappan.
