Guruvayur Temple: Darshan Restrictions Today (Sept 3, 2026) for Punyaham & Ashtami Rohini Preparations
The Guruvayur Devaswom Board has announced darshan restrictions at Sree Krishna Temple, Guruvayur, today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, due to Punyaham rituals. Darshan will be regulated from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Preparations for the upcoming Ashtami Rohini festival are in their final stages, and special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth darshan for all devotees.
Special Darshan & Queue Arrangements on Ashtami Rohini Day

VIP/Special Darshan: Restricted from 6:00 AM onwards on Ashtami Rohini day to manage the unprecedented crowd and allow more devotees to have darshan.

Senior Citizen Darshan:

Morning: 4:30 AM – 5:30 AM

Evening: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Local Devotees (Thalooriyavar): Allowed as per existing rules.

General Darshan: Only through the common queue system during other timings.

No Shayana Pradakshinam: Due to special Kazcha Sheeveli, night circumambulation (shayana pradakshinam) and related darshan will also be restricted.
Exit Route: After darshan, devotees must leave via the West Gopuram or Bhagavati Temple pathway to avoid blocking the queue.
Overflow Queue Management: If the main queue becomes insufficient, additional queue lines will be arranged at the East Nadappura and Poonthanam Hall.
Special Cases:

Children who have completed Choorunu will be allowed special darshan.

From Nirmalyam time, the queue will operate as usual via the flyover.

Senior citizens and devotees with disabilities will be allowed via the Kodimaram route.
Ashtami Rohini Festival: Budget & Special Poojas
The Devaswom has approved an overall estimate of ₹36.82 lakh for Ashtami Rohini celebrations.

Special Prasadam Oottu (Community Feast): Estimated at ₹24 lakh. If the estimate is insufficient, additional food will be prepared as needed.

Appam Vazhipadu: Estimate of ₹7.25 lakh; rate is ₹35 per receipt; maximum 20 sheets (₹700) per person; only cash accepted at temple counters. From 3:30 PM on September 3, Appam vouchers can be booked at counters inside and outside the temple. For general devotees, a limit of 10 sheets (₹350) per person applies.

Palpayasam Vazhipadu: Estimate of ₹10.8 lakh approved.
Special Kazcha Sheeveli & Cultural Programs
On Ashtami Rohini day, there will be special Kazcha Sheeveli in the morning, afternoon, and night, with Indra (Devaswom’s lead elephant) carrying the golden kodimaram. Elephants Gopalakrishnan and Vinayakan will accompany as pattanakkal.
