The Guruvayur Temple, one of Kerala’s most revered pilgrimage centers, is all set to receive a major facelift with an allocation of ₹15 crore for infrastructure development. The project aims to improve facilities in and around the temple to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for the thousands of devotees who visit daily, especially during the temple festival season.
Guruvayur Temple Festival Development
The initiative is part of the Infrastructure Development Project led by the Guruvayur Devaswom Board and supported by the Local Self Government Department. In total, ₹58.50 crore has been approved for various development works that will enhance the temple town’s infrastructure.
The new projects include the widening and renovation of key roads leading to the temple, improved lighting systems, drainage development, and beautification of the temple surroundings. A major portion of the funds will also be directed towards strengthening the Ashraya Housing Scheme, aimed at supporting underprivileged families in the Guruvayur region.
A review meeting was held under the leadership of Devaswom Administrator Dr. V.K. Vijayan, Municipal Chairman K.C. Vijayan, Secretary C.C. Dinesh, and Assistant Engineer O.B. Arun, who discussed the timely implementation of the projects. The District Collector has instructed that 25 major works be completed promptly with strict quality standards.
These efforts mark a significant step in improving Guruvayur’s infrastructure while preserving its spiritual and cultural essence. The development will not only benefit pilgrims but also promote tourism and local business growth.
With these new initiatives, Guruvayur is on its way to becoming a more organized, accessible, and welcoming destination for devotees and visitors from across the world.
