Guruvayur Devaswom’s Renovated Kausthubham Rest House to Be Inaugurated on the 28th
Guruvayur: The Guruvayur Devaswom’s newly renovated Kausthubham Rest House Inauguration will be thrown open to devotees on the 28th. Kerala’s Minister K. Muraleedharan will lead the inauguration ceremony at 9 a.m., with the formal rituals to precede the event. Devaswom Chairman A.V. Gopinath will preside over the function.
A Long-Awaited Upgrade for Pilgrims
Kausthubham has long served as one of the key accommodation options for devotees visiting the Guruvayur temple, one of Kerala’s most revered Krishna shrines. Recognizing the need to offer visitors comfortable and affordable lodging, the Devaswom undertook a major renovation of the facility at a cost of ₹13.30 crore.
The renovation project was executed by the Oorayankal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, under the supervision of the Devaswom’s Civil and Electrical Wing.
Inside the Renovated Facility
The revamped Kausthubham Rest House now boasts a total of 97 rooms, spread across a built-up area of 50,300 square feet. The room configuration includes:
- 2-bed AC rooms: 23
- 2-bed non-AC rooms: 45
- 3-bed non-AC rooms: 8
- 4-bed non-AC rooms: 5
- 6-bed non-AC rooms: 16
This mix of AC and non-AC options, along with rooms of varying occupancy, is designed to cater to pilgrims traveling in different group sizes and with different budgets — from individual devotees and couples to larger family groups.

Guruvayur draws a steady stream of pilgrims throughout the year, and finding clean, reliable, and reasonably priced accommodation close to the temple has always been a priority for visiting families.
